Lighter Airdrop Fuels Polymarket Bets, Hyperliquid Lists LIT
Lighter, a leading perpetual decentralized exchange (perp DEX) and rival to Hyperliquid, is generating significant airdrop speculation as it nears a token generation event (TGE) expected by December 31. Core contributor Sebas announced that Lighter is finalizing processes like filtering Sybil and wash-trading points, which will be redistributed to the community. The platform opened an airdrop allocation form, letting users designate how their LIT tokens, representing 25% of the total supply, are distributed; if not completed, eligible users receive tokens in their main account. Lighter ended its Season 1 points program in September and continues Season 2 rewards. Amid this, Hyperliquid has listed the soon-to-launch Lighter token against USDC, while Lighter attracted $68 million in recent funding and is now the second-largest perp DEX, according to DefiLlama. Odds on prediction platform Polymarket show 86% of traders expect the airdrop before year-end. Coinbase also added Lighter to its listing roadmap, indicating further legitimacy and anticipation for the upcoming token.
