Mastercard (MA), Visa (V), Stripe connect crypto to cash as stablecoin payments grow
Summary
Allium reports stablecoin payments reached $482 billion in the first nine months of 2026, up 45% year over year, while supply grew just 0.4% to $305 billion. Payment counts rose 71% to more than 1 billion, and stablecoin card spending increased tenfold to $3.9 billion. Mastercard, Stripe and Visa are expanding stablecoin services for accounts, cards and cross-border payouts, integrating digital dollars with existing payment systems. Adoption remains small relative to traditional payments: Allium attributed only 2.5% of $97.9 trillion in raw transfers to end-user activity, and stablecoin cards represented 0.03% of Visa’s second-quarter volume.
