MediaMarktSaturn pulls Ledger products amid tampering reports
Summary
MediaMarktSaturn has removed Ledger hardware wallets from its stores and online platforms while investigating reports of tampered devices. A customer claimed two wallets bought at separate German stores contained unauthorized cables and cellular modules. Ledger is investigating reports that implants in devices sold through Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis transmitted recovery phrases over cellular networks, and says reports extend beyond that reseller. Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès also said a Ledger Flex bought at Singapore airport contained a spy implant. Ledger had not directly addressed the Singapore claim, and did not respond to a question about confirmed tampering in Europe.
