Morning Minute: Clarity Act Odds Soar as Trump Agrees to Ethics Provisions
Senate Democrats are revisiting the Clarity Act ahead of a Tuesday cloture vote that could determine whether comprehensive crypto market structure legislation advances this year. Odds of passage rose after Trump reportedly agreed to updated ethics restrictions affecting him, his family, and other officials, easing a key Democratic objection. The bill now runs 630 pages and includes major changes, including CFTC/Bank Secrecy Act oversight for certain “decentralized-in-name-only” protocols. Passage still looks difficult: Republicans hold 53 seats and supporters likely need nine Democrats. If cloture fails, major crypto legislation may not return until 2029. If it passes, ETH and revenue-generating protocols like Hyperliquid and Lighter could benefit strongly.
