Morning Minute: Solana Jumps with Network Inflation Set to Drop
Solana had a strong August, with SOL rising about 44% and reclaiming above $105 for the first time since January. At the same time, Solana completed its first binding onchain governance vote, and all three proposals passed, setting up changes to the network’s inflation and supply schedule. Institutional views were mixed: Solana Company opposed the economic changes, arguing for predictable staking yield, while DeFi Development Corp supported them and bought 19,000 SOL for $1.86 million, lifting its treasury to about 2.33 million SOL. On the demand side, Charles Schwab said it plans to add SOL, AVAX, and LINK to Schwab Crypto, potentially exposing SOL to millions of brokerage accounts. Combined with renewed treasury buying and fast growth in major Solana apps like Pump.fun and Fomo, the setup looks increasingly bullish heading into September.
