Nvidia, Microsoft and IBM Launch Open Secure AI Alliance to Strengthen AI Cybersecurity
A group of major tech firms, led by Nvidia and including Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Cloudflare, Hugging Face, Salesforce, and Palantir, launched the Open Secure AI Alliance to build open-source AI safety and cybersecurity tools and standards. The alliance expands on Linux Foundation and OpenSSF work and aims to help defenders find vulnerabilities, audit AI agents, and respond to cyber threats. Nvidia said it will contribute open models, weights, datasets, and research, and released its NOOA agent framework as open source. The effort reflects growing concern that frontier AI is already affecting cybersecurity, with recent incidents involving vulnerabilities found or exploited during model testing. Supporters argue open-weight models are crucial for transparent, adaptable defense and for avoiding dependence on a few opaque proprietary systems.
