Robinhood Crypto Chief Explains Why There Are 'Two Wolves' Inside Robinhood Chain
Robinhood’s new Ethereum layer-2, Robinhood Chain, is designed to serve both serious finance users and crypto-native traders. The goal is a chain for tokenized equities, derivatives, lending, and perpetual futures, while also supporting meme coins to attract attention, liquidity, and users. Robinhood says the network already has nearly $800 million in total value locked and over 200 million transactions in a little more than a month. The company chose an L2 rather than an L1 to rely on Ethereum’s security and decentralization while focusing on product development. A key aim is to move brokerage functions on-chain and let users trade outside traditional market hours, including reacting to news on weekends and after market close. Robinhood wants the chain to be useful not just for its own products, but for developers and broader user adoption, especially newcomers to crypto.
