NYSE Taps Blockchain.com to Reach Crypto Investors With Tokenized Stocks
Blockchain.com has agreed with NYSE Group to offer tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs in its app through NYSE’s planned digital trading venue, subject to regulatory approval. The venue, announced in January, is meant to be a regulated alternative trading system with 24/7 trading and on-chain settlement, though it has not launched yet. Tokenized stocks are blockchain-based representations of listed shares and are promoted for fractional ownership, faster settlement, and trading outside market hours. The partnership gives NYSE access to Blockchain.com’s 44 million confirmed accounts across more than 70 jurisdictions. Blockchain.com will also add some NYSE and ICE market data to its app, while ICE Data Services will distribute Blockchain.com crypto data to subscribers. The deal comes as U.S. regulators move toward allowing tokenized stock trading, and as rivals like Coinbase expand tokenized equity offerings. No launch date or financial terms were disclosed.
