OFAC sanctions 134 ISIS-K crypto wallet addresses as Tether freezes funds
Summary
OFAC sanctioned 134 cryptocurrency wallet addresses linked to ISIS-K, adding them to the SDN list. Most were Tron addresses, and Tether froze funds tied to 131 of them; the other three were on Monero. Chainalysis said these wallets had received more than $1.4 million in crypto donations since 2023 and had sent over $880,000. The action followed earlier sanctions on ISIS-related financiers and exchange operators in Europe, the Middle East, and West Africa. OFAC said the goal was to disrupt facilitators who help ISIS move money across regional affiliates. Chainalysis identified repeated use of donation addresses across Tron, Monero, and Bitcoin, with some funds touching mainstream services and Syria-based exchanges.
