OneKey founder warns BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF could be a North Korean target
OneKey founder Yishi Wang warned that North Korean hackers could target BlackRock’s $62 billion iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), citing recent major crypto thefts and the fund’s reliance on Coinbase as its primary custodian. The Bybit and Binance breaches showed how attackers can exploit software, signing processes, or wallet infrastructure without stealing private keys. Coinbase says its systems remain secure and has taken precautionary steps; there is no evidence IBIT or its custody systems have been compromised, nor that hackers are actively targeting the fund. BlackRock has named Anchorage Digital as an additional custodian but has no current plans to move Bitcoin from Coinbase. The fund holds about 815,000 BTC. Coinbase’s shared insurance and contractual liability limits may not cover all potential losses, and Bitcoin cannot be frozen centrally if stolen.
