Ripple secures full MiCA license for crypto services across Europe
Ripple received full authorization under the EU’s MiCA crypto regime after Luxembourg’s regulator granted it a Crypto Asset Service Provider license. Combined with its existing Electronic Money Institution license, this lets Ripple offer regulated crypto-asset services across the European Economic Area under a single passported authorization. Ripple said it is among a small group of firms fully authorized under MiCA and now holds more than 75 regulatory licenses globally, including UK FCA approval. The approval comes after the EU’s July 1 MiCA transition deadline, when crypto firms had to secure authorization or stop offering regulated services in the bloc. ESMA recently updated its register to 280 licensed providers. Some firms, including Binance, did not secure authorization before the deadline and are reworking their approach. Enforcement is now shifting to national regulators, with Belgium already identifying unauthorized providers.
