Samsung Wallet Will Add Stablecoin Support, Including USDC

Summary

Samsung said Samsung Wallet will soon support stablecoins natively, letting users hold and transfer digital tokens alongside payment cards, IDs, and hotel keys. The company did not give a launch date, name an issuer, or specify a blockchain. A product manager said this would make Samsung one of the first major mobile brands to offer native stablecoin support and enable fast digital value transfers. Samsung showed a mockup featuring USDC, but did not confirm any Circle partnership. The move extends Samsung’s existing crypto features: Galaxy phones have supported crypto storage since 2019 through Knox, later adding coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, and Stellar, plus hardware-wallet links and Coinbase crypto buying in Samsung Wallet. Samsung also announced its first U.S. credit card, issued by Barclays on Visa, with cash back for Samsung purchases and wallet transactions as part of a broader secured payments and rewards push.
