Senate leaders push for July passage of CLARITY Act
The CLARITY Act, meant to create a comprehensive US crypto regulatory framework, is still stalled in Congress. It passed key House and Senate committee votes, but progress has slowed because of stablecoin-rewards opposition and Democratic demands for stronger ethics rules tied to Trump family crypto interests. Senate Republicans want a floor vote in July, but lawmakers will be out of Washington until July 13 and then again in August, leaving little time to act. Trump’s recent move to tie support for unrelated bills to the SAVE America Act has also raised doubts about whether he would back CLARITY, despite earlier signs of support. If the Senate cannot reach the 60-vote threshold before the August recess, the bill could be delayed until the next Congress, potentially pushing action into 2027.
