Sequans exits Bitcoin treasury strategy after selling remaining 314 BTC
Sequans Communications has sold its last 314 Bitcoin, ending a Bitcoin treasury strategy that once held more than 3,200 BTC. The French semiconductor company said the move followed the redemption of convertible debt in May and lets it refocus on cellular IoT and software-defined radio businesses. CEO Georges Karam said Bitcoin sales were used to clear convertible debt and strengthen the balance sheet, leaving Sequans with no crypto assets and no debt beyond government-funded R&D obligations. Sequans launched the strategy in June 2025 after a $384 million equity and convertible debenture raise, but started unwinding it less than six months later. Broader market weakness has led several digital asset treasury firms in 2026 to abandon or scale back similar strategies, often to repay debt, meet working capital needs, or shift business priorities.
