Solana Unveils Token Extensions As SOL Bounces Back, Surging 5%

Summary

The Solana Foundation has launched token extensions, providing developers, enterprises, financial institutions, and Solana-native development teams with solutions for advanced token functionality. Paxos and GMO-Z.com Trust Company Inc. (GMO Trust) are among the first to adopt these extensions to issue stablecoins on the Solana blockchain. Paxos expanded its stablecoin issuance to the network in December, while GMO Trust launched the first regulated Japanese yen stablecoin and their own US dollar stablecoin on the Solana network. The token extensions are designed to cater to various industries such as stablecoins, real-world assets, and payments. The SOL token experienced a 28% drop in the past 30 days but has since recovered with a 5% increase in the past 24 hours.
