Stani Kulechov Defied Crypto Winter
Stani Kulechov is the founder and CEO of Avara, a software development company responsible for decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol Aave, stablecoin GHO, and Web3 social protocol, Lens Protocol. Aave is a DeFi lending platform on the Ethereum blockchain that allows users to take instant loans in cryptocurrency using their own cryptocurrencies as collateral. Aave also enables users to lend their crypto to earn returns. In 2023, the Aave protocol was upgraded to improve user accessibility and introduce new security features. Despite recent challenges in the DeFi market, Kulechov has focused on improving DeFi infrastructure to increase participation. Born in Estonia in 1991, Kulechov migrated to Finland with his family and later built Aave's precursor, ETHLend, at Helsinki University. Now based in London, Kulechov's future plans involve expansion of staking, further integration of "real-world assets", and growth of decentralized social media through the Lens protocol.
