Still Waiting For An Altcoin Season? These Metrics Show Why It Might Never Happen
Bitcoin maintains its dominance in the current market cycle, with many investors uncertain about the emergence of an altcoin season. Crypto analyst Ali Martinez suggests that an altcoin rally may not occur this season due to significant market changes. An altcoin season typically involves rapid price increases across various altcoins, driven by investors reallocating Bitcoin profits. However, the crypto market has evolved, now closely tied to traditional finance, and the number of altcoins has surged to over 36.4 million, compared to fewer than 3,000 during the last major altcoin season. This oversaturation dilutes capital and attention, complicating widespread price surges. Ethereum, once a key driver of altcoin seasons, has underperformed, raising doubts about other altcoins' potential. Currently, Bitcoin holds 57.9% of the total crypto market cap, while Ethereum's dominance has fallen to 11.1%.
