Sui Testnet v1.80.1 Expands Protocol 137 Features For Node Operators
Sui testnet v1.80.1 is now live, giving developers and infrastructure operators an early look at protocol version 137 before any mainnet rollout. The update spans Move execution, RPC behavior, GraphQL, gas accounting, and archival services. Key changes include cheaper Ristretto255 range-proof verification with support for larger batches, the GraphQL subscription root moving into the production schema for optional use, and expanded package-query support in the Bigtable-backed archival gRPC service. These changes mainly affect wallets, indexers, trading systems, and app developers rather than end users. Because this is only a testnet release, it should not be treated as a completed mainnet upgrade or assumed to reflect live network behavior. The main purpose is to surface compatibility or tooling issues early before protocol 137 reaches production.
