Swiss state-owned lender PostFinance deepens crypto push with Ethereum staking debut
PostFinance AG has launched an Ethereum staking service, allowing users to earn rewards while enhancing blockchain security. Customers can stake a minimum of 0.1 ETH, with a 12-week lock-up period before receiving rewards. The bank plans to expand the service to include additional cryptocurrencies in the future. PostFinance entered the crypto market in April 2023 through a partnership with Sygnum Bank, offering trading and custody services to 2.5 million customers. The bank later enabled trading of 11 digital currencies and crypto savings plans. The Ethereum staking initiative reflects PostFinance's commitment to blockchain adoption and aligns with Switzerland's growing interest in digital assets, including a campaign for Bitcoin inclusion in the Swiss National Bank's reserves and a study on Bitcoin mining's potential benefits for the electrical grid. This expansion positions PostFinance as a significant player in the evolving financial landscape and supports Switzerland's ambition to be a global hub for digital assets.
