Tether announced Tether AI, an open-source AI platform set to launch later this year, merging cryptocurrency with AI technology through decentralized applications on user devices. CEO Paolo Ardoino described it as "personal infinite intelligence" that operates without centralized control. Users could delegate complex cryptocurrency tasks to AI agents, simplifying wallet management and blockchain interactions. The platform offers sophisticated financial tools via intuitive AI interfaces and a common framework for developers to create interoperable applications. Tether AI will not require API keys and includes a modular wallet development kit for secure transactions. The initiative follows Tether's increased investments in Bitcoin and its mining sector. Tether AI aims to preserve user privacy and self-custody by operating locally on devices, with applications like AI Translate and AI Voice Assistant. The platform is built on Bare, a JavaScript runtime compatible with various hardware, reflecting broader philosophical ambitions of integrating AI into everyday life.
