Tether signs tokenization deal with Nairobi Securities Exchange

Summary

Tether signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nairobi Securities Exchange to explore tokenized securities, blockchain-based market infrastructure, and digital asset education. The plan includes investigating real-world asset tokenization and possible use of Tether’s Hadron platform for issuing and trading tokenized securities. Both sides will also assess instant settlement systems and whether USDT could serve as a settlement layer in Kenya, if local regulations allow. The move comes amid growing interest in tokenized assets, with onchain RWA value reaching about $36.8 billion, excluding stablecoins. USDT remains the largest stablecoin, with a market cap of about $184 billion.
