THORChain’s RUNE jumps 13% after Binance’s record $6.3B hack
Summary
RUNE rose more than 13% to $0.67 after investigators said funds from the $6.3 billion Binance hack and a prior Bitget hack passed through THORChain and were consolidated at the same Ethereum address. TRM Labs and Chainalysis have linked the Binance attack to North Korea-linked TraderTraitor. THORChain has also been used to move funds from the Bybit and Bitget hacks. After the Bitget exploit, the protocol declined requests to block suspected attacker addresses, saying it cannot restrict individual swaps, though node operators can pause trading network-wide or for a blockchain. Its handling of funds linked to the Bybit hack previously prompted internal disputes and contributor departures.
