U.S. Department of Energy Will Start Comment Period on Miner Survey Proposal
Summary
The Energy Information Administration (EIA), a division of the Department of Energy, will seek feedback on its crypto miner survey following an agreement with the Texas Blockchain Council and Riot Platforms. The EIA will publish a notice proposing the new survey and will accept comments for 60 days. This replaces the previous survey, which was issued under emergency status and asked miners about their energy usage. The EIA will destroy any information already received from the emergency survey. The agency may still decide to issue the survey after the comment period. The Department of Energy will pay the plaintiffs' attorneys' fees, amounting to just under $2,200.
