VanEck, 21Shares Solana ETF Plan Confirmed in Cboe Filing
Summary
The Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe) has submitted a request to the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) to allow asset managers VanEck and 21Shares to introduce a Solana-based exchange-traded fund (ETF). The SEC has 240 days to make a decision once it acknowledges the filing. Cboe currently lists six of the 10 existing spot bitcoin ETFs and could potentially list five spot ether ETFs if approved. The SEC is expected to approve ether ETFs soon. Both VanEck and 21Shares have completed the necessary filings to list an ETF, with the submission of a 19b-4 being the second required step.
