Wallet Linked to Drift Exploit Sends $61 Million in Ethereum to Tornado Cash

Summary

Wallets linked to April’s $295.7 million Drift Protocol exploit deposited 25,700 ETH, worth about $61.6 million, into Tornado Cash in roughly two hours, after being inactive for two months. Arkham data shows the attacker-linked wallets still hold about 81,454 ETH, worth nearly $199 million. The transfers follow a July deposit of about 23,095 ETH into the mixer. Drift says the attack involved stolen administrative access and was attributed by Mandiant to North Korean group UNC6862. The exchange, now relaunched as Velocity, has begun distributing DFX recovery tokens, though its initial recovery pool represented about one cent per dollar of verified losses.
