WalletConnect is launching Smart Sessions, a new standard aimed at enhancing wallet user experience (UX) for an AI-driven internet. Smart Sessions allow users to connect once and set interaction rules in natural language, enabling apps and AI agents to transact on their behalf without constant wallet popups. WalletConnect has facilitated over 300 million secure connections for 45 million users, linking 700 wallets and 63,000 apps. AI agents will play a significant role in the ecosystem, supporting automated trading, onchain games, subscription payments, and asset management. The WCT token will be used for transaction fees, with demand expected to rise as more AI agents operate. Recent changes to Apple’s App Store policies will provide Web3 apps and wallets with greater freedom for decentralized payment options, enhancing mobile crypto experiences.
