Wyoming executive order to guide AI data center development
Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon signed an executive order, “Data Centers the Wyoming Way,” to create a state framework for large-scale data centers and advanced computing facilities. The order directs state agencies to support development while prioritizing water and environmental sustainability, workforce development, and protection for residential electricity customers. It signals Wyoming’s effort to attract AI infrastructure investment as demand for computing power rises. The move fits a broader national push on AI, alongside major tech companies planning massive spending on AI and data center buildouts this year. Wyoming’s strategy also builds on its role as a Bitcoin mining hub, with several miners increasingly expanding into AI and high-performance computing services to diversify revenue.
