Zano rolls blockchain back a month after Gateway Address exploit
Zano rolled back about a month of blockchain history after a Gateway Addresses vulnerability let unauthorized ZANO and Freedom Dollar tokens enter circulation. The chain was restarted at block 3,833,000, just before Hard Fork 6, and nodes, miners, stakers, exchanges, and other services must upgrade to stay compatible. The rollback removes both the illicit tokens and legitimate transactions from that period on the recovered chain, though it cannot undo payments already settled on other blockchains. Zano said it is working on reimbursement and claims handling for losses. The flaw affected Gateway Addresses, a feature meant to simplify integration for bridges, exchanges, and payment services by letting them manage funds through one account-like balance. Zano’s standard wallets normally use UTXO-based tracking rather than account balances.
