Zcash developers begin moving Tachyon code into faster private-payment software

Summary

Zcash developers released Udon, a component of the proposed Tachyon scaling upgrade, into Zakura Common, a shared cryptography library used by Zcash projects. This lets developers build on optimized code for calculations involved in private transactions. Tachyon aims to combine proofs from many payments so network nodes have less data to process, with a long-term target above 50,000 payments per second. The upgrade is not active on Zcash, and current shielded transaction volumes remain far below that scale: roughly 11,700 per day in the week through Sept. 21, declining to about 6,200 in the week through Sept. 28.
