Zimbabwe admits seven fintech projects to regulatory sandbox
Zimbabwe’s Securities and Exchange Commission has admitted seven fintech projects to its regulatory sandbox, with tokenization making up most of the group. The approved participants are Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange, Ndarama Standard, Questview Brokers, Crowdaxe Capital, Procode Platforms, Financial Securities Exchange (FINSEC), and Colmin Resources Zimbabwe. Their projects include blockchain-based capital raising, crowdfunding, synthetic trading, and the tokenization of assets, securities, and infrastructure, with four of the seven focused directly on tokenization. Sandbox admission allows controlled testing under regulatory supervision, but successful testing does not guarantee full registration; participants must still meet licensing requirements before operating commercially. The cohort highlights rising interest in blockchain-based tools to widen capital market access and package hard-to-trade assets into regulated investment products.
