$161 Million in Decade-Old Bitcoin Has Moved in Just Two Weeks
Four more long-dormant Bitcoin wallets moved 1,971.03 BTC, worth about $161 million, between Sept. 6 and Sept. 22, continuing a wave of old-wallet activity. The largest transfer came from a wallet inactive since July 2016 and held 1,260.78 BTC, now worth about $100.63 million; it had an estimated cost basis near $652, implying a gain of roughly 12,122%. Two much older wallets, dormant since 2011, also moved coins: 10.25 BTC worth about $792,000 and 100 BTC worth about $8.09 million, with gains of more than 8.38 million percent and 2.49 million percent, respectively. A fourth wallet moved 600 BTC, worth about $51.9 million, after being idle since July 2012. Three wallets carried a “Noah Doe” tag tied to an abandoned-property lawsuit. The activity fits a broader 2026 trend of ancient Bitcoin supply reappearing on-chain, though transfers do not show whether coins were sold or simply moved to new custody.
