Abu Dhabi royal backs 49% stake in Trump-linked crypto bank venture: WSJ
Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s investment group is reportedly behind StringZ Holding RSC, the largest owner of WLTC Holdings, the company seeking to launch World Liberty Financial’s US trust bank. According to the report, StringZ holds 49% of WLTC, while a Trump-family-affiliated entity holds 38%. If fully approved, the trust bank would handle issuance, redemption, and custody of World Liberty’s USD1 stablecoin under federal supervision. The OCC granted preliminary conditional approval on Aug. 14, but the bank still must meet pre-opening requirements and win final approval before operating. The OCC filing confirms StringZ is an investor and agreed not to influence the bank, though it does not name Tahnoon directly. Tahnoon also previously backed a $500 million purchase of 49% of World Liberty Financial, drawing scrutiny from Democratic senators.
