Banks, regulators join quantum-resistant crypto transfer pilot
Banks and regulators in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia are taking part in a pilot for quantum-resistant digital asset wallets and onchain transfers. The Responsible Fintech Institute and Safeheron launched the project using a multiparty computation protocol that supports ML-DSA-65, a post-quantum signature standard, on a quantum-resistant NEAR testnet. Participating regulators include Abu Dhabi Global Market, Bhutan’s Gelephu Financial Services Office, and Malta’s Financial Services Authority, alongside banks such as Bison Bank and DK Bank. The pilot will test wallet creation and transfers in a shared environment, while regulators initially observe and later help shape governance. The goal is to publish findings and eventually open-source the technology as financial institutions prepare for quantum threats to current cryptography.
