Ancient Bitcoin Wallet That Turned $120 Into $3 Million Wakes Up

Summary

At least four long-dormant Bitcoin wallets moved 202.84 BTC, worth about $15.73 million, between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4, continuing a summer wave of ancient wallet activity. The largest transfer came from a 146.06 BTC wallet inactive since 2013, followed by a 40 BTC wallet dormant since 2011 and two smaller 2011-era wallets holding 10 BTC and 6.78 BTC. The oldest coins showed huge paper gains, with one wallet turning roughly $120 into more than $3 million. Most such transfers do not show whether coins are being sold or merely moved, but one 6.78 BTC transfer was tagged as sent to Coinbase, suggesting a likely sale. Some wallets also carried “Noah Doe” tags tied to a New York abandoned-property lawsuit, and those addresses have been moving more frequently since the case was paused.
