Binance Sued by Families of Hamas Victims, Hostages

Summary

Families of victims of Hamas in Israel are suing cryptocurrency exchange Binance in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York, alleging it processed transactions for the terrorist group and others in the region. The complaint was filed on behalf of U.S. citizens affected by acts of terror perpetrated by Hamas and other groups in Israel on October 7, 2023. The plaintiffs also accuse Binance of facilitating the financing of Hamas and other terrorist organizations between 2017 and 2023. Over 100 Binance accounts with suspected links to Hamas were frozen at the request of Israeli law enforcement following attacks that resulted in over 1,000 deaths and more than 250 people taken hostage. Binance has not yet responded to these allegations.
