Binance.US to attempt prediction markets entry as CFTC-licensed entity, says CEO
Binance.US plans to seek a Designated Contract Market license from the CFTC to launch prediction markets in the U.S. CEO Steve Gregory said at the Rare Evo conference that the exchange expects to apply in August. If approved, the license would let Binance.US offer futures- or options-based contracts tied to commodities, indexes, or other instruments, putting it in competition with platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket. A DCM applicant must meet CFTC requirements, including safeguards, recordkeeping, and conflict-of-interest controls. As of Wednesday, the CFTC had no public record of a pending Binance.US DCM application. The move comes more than a year after the SEC dropped its lawsuit against Binance, its U.S. entity, and former CEO Changpeng Zhao.
