Bitcoin declines below $65,000 as Trump threatens Iran after tanker attacks send Oil above $100
Bitcoin slipped below $65,000 as a surge in oil prices and higher Treasury yields drove a broader risk-off move. Brent briefly topped $100 a barrel after attacks on Saudi tankers and escalating US-Iran/Houthi tensions, pushing the 10-year Treasury yield to around 4.7% and weighing on stocks. Rising energy costs may keep inflation elevated, limit Federal Reserve easing, and even raise the chance of another rate hike. Analysts warned sustained oil strength could send yields higher and pressure both equities and bonds. Bitcoin’s own support also weakened: US spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $225.2 million in net outflows after a seven-session inflow streak, and on-chain data show spot demand fading while futures demand has slowed. The combination leaves Bitcoin more exposed to tighter financial conditions and any further disruption to Red Sea and Hormuz shipping routes.
