Bitcoin ETF flows jumped by $137 million, but it only recouped a third of recent losses

Summary

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs showed a provisional $137.3 million inflow on Aug. 17, but the gain was driven mostly by Fidelity’s FBTC, which contributed $111.9 million, about 81.5% of the total. ARKB added $14.2 million and MSBT $11.2 million; the other listed funds were flat. BlackRock’s IBIT showed a dash rather than a confirmed zero, so the total may still change. The positive day followed five straight sessions of net outflows totaling $385.2 million, leaving ETFs still down $247.9 million across the full six-session span. The rebound therefore looks narrow rather than broad-based, with participation concentrated in one issuer. The flow data do not reveal who bought the ETFs or prove a broad return of institutional demand. The next Farside update will show whether IBIT changes the tally and whether inflows spread beyond Fidelity.
