London Stock Exchange partners with Kraken parent for tokenized UK stocks: FT
LSE is reportedly partnering with Kraken’s parent, Payward, to offer tokenized stocks on its new LSE 24 night-time venue, with access to products tracking leading UK equities planned for 2027. The venue will provide 24/5 trading, extending access beyond normal market hours. The move puts LSE among major traditional exchanges exploring blockchain-based equity products that support round-the-clock trading and fractional ownership. Other large market operators are also pushing into tokenization. Nasdaq has partnered with Payward and its Backed subsidiary, and has moved to expand into round-the-clock tokenized trading. ICE has invested in OKX to support tokenized NYSE-listed stocks, and Deutsche Börse has backed Payward to broaden blockchain-based securities offerings. CME Group has also expanded crypto-linked futures products. Interest in tokenized stocks is rising quickly: onchain value reached $2.53 billion, up 15% in 30 days, and tokenized equity holders grew to 2.45 million, up 153%.
