BitMEX opens fund recovery to customers it previously barred from the platform
Summary
After ceasing exchange operations on Sept. 23, BitMEX reopened login and withdrawal access for former customers in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Bermuda, Seychelles and Myanmar. Users can verify their identities and request withdrawals, while accounts subject to sanctions remain restricted and face compliance checks. BitMEX warns that it will not credit new deposits and that balances left on the platform may incur charges. Founded in 2014, the derivatives exchange pleaded guilty to violating US anti-money-laundering law in 2024 and agreed to pay $100 million.
