BlackRock's next big tokenization bet
BlackRock and Ondo Finance have introduced three blockchain-based tokens representing professionally constructed portfolios focused on income, diversified growth and high growth. Unlike tokenized single assets, these products put the investment strategy itself onchain, making it potentially transferable between wallets and usable in other financial applications. The move reflects a broader shift toward combining tokenized assets into managed portfolios. Bitwise, Coinbase and Glider are pursuing a related approach, though their system keeps individual assets in investors’ wallets and automates rebalancing. Industry figures say tokenization could widen access to asset classes and enable software, potentially paired with AI, to tailor and manage portfolios. Wider adoption will depend on more assets and supporting financial infrastructure moving onchain.
