Caroline Ellison Buried Sam Bankman-Fried
The collapse of FTX, a crypto exchange, in 2022 came about, in part, due to a tweet from Caroline Ellison, CEO of Alameda Research. She publicly stated a lower price for FTX's exchange token which led to the price plummeting and triggered a series of events leading to the bankruptcy of FTX and Alameda. Ellison later admitted to fraud, money laundering, and being involved in a scam against FTX's customers, investors and Alameda's lenders. Ellison was a key figure in the trial, testifying about her former boss, Sam Bankman-Fried, who founded both FTX and Alameda Research. The case was one of the biggest fraud trials ever, with Ellison admitting that she was part of a team that stole money to gamble, buy real estate and influence U.S. elections and regulations.
