Chainalysis-led operation flags 7,700 accounts in child abuse probe
Chainalysis said Operation Lighthouse identified more than 7,700 suspect accounts tied to child sexual abuse material across crypto activity linked to over 100 CSAM platforms on the surface and dark web. The operation reviewed 29,120 crypto addresses and digital identifiers and produced 14,300 investigative leads for 11 crypto exchanges and payment services, with suspects in 125 countries. Among those flagged were 16 registered sex offenders, plus military personnel, law enforcement officers, medical professionals and educators. The multi-day effort was hosted in New York with law enforcement, private-sector partners and nonprofits including Europol, the UK National Crime Agency, Binance, Coinbase, Block and the Internet Watch Foundation. Participants used onchain intelligence to support legal follow-up, with expected outcomes including arrests, prosecutions and account disruption. The effort reflects broader crypto-industry cooperation against exploitation, building on prior blockchain tracing that helped dismantle major CSAM operations.
