Coinbase's Base Is Betting Big on AI Agents With $100K Startup Accelerator
Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network, is opening applications for Base Batches 004 through September 9 and will select only 10 pre-seed startups. Each team gets a $100,000 upfront investment, plus an eight-week virtual accelerator, a dedicated advisor, weekly support, ecosystem visibility, and a Demo Day in New York in November. The cohort is focused on high-signal founders building on Base as their primary network, especially in trading, payments, financing, and AI agents. Base is particularly looking for products using stablecoins for agent-driven shopping, trading, and payments, along with infrastructure for lending, e-commerce, and decentralized AI. Coinbase says it wants fintech founders who can bring new financial products to the network. The shift to a smaller cohort reflects a strategy of deeper, more hands-on support. It also aligns with Coinbase’s broader push into agentic crypto payments, including tools that let AI agents hold money and transact on Base.
