Crypto PACs escalate spending against Sherrod Brown in Ohio Senate race
Summary
Crypto-backed political groups sharply increased spending in Ohio’s 2026 Senate race. Fairshake affiliate Defend American Jobs reported $46.6 million in media spending to oppose former senator Sherrod Brown and support Republican incumbent Jon Husted, up from an initially announced $30 million. The Winklevoss-backed Digital Freedom Fund reported about $3 million in recent spending, bringing its Ohio total above $5.9 million. Fairshake’s Ohio spending already exceeds its $41 million effort in the 2024 race, and its affiliate also spent more than $6.7 million opposing Nebraska independent Dan Osborn. Fairshake says it aims to elect pro-crypto candidates and reported $193 million in cash in January.
