Crypto.com Slashes Workforce by 12% in 'Enterprise-Wide AI' Pivot
Crypto.com is cutting 12% of its workforce, about 180 employees, as it shifts toward AI-driven operations. CEO Kris Marszalek stated the company is adopting "enterprise-wide AI" and argued that firms not making this rapid transition risk failure. This is the exchange's third round of layoffs in four years. The crypto industry is experiencing broader restructuring, with several firms—such as Algorand Foundation, Messari, and Block—also cutting staff and integrating artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency amid economic challenges. All affected Crypto.com employees have been notified and will receive support during the transition. Recently, Crypto.com launched a U.S.-based prediction market and secured conditional approval for a national trust bank charter, allowing for federally regulated digital asset services if fully approved. The company also made a notable $5 million donation to a pro-Trump super PAC.
