MLB Signs Exclusive Polymarket Deal, 'Integrity Framework' Agreement With CFTC
Major League Baseball has partnered exclusively with Polymarket as its official prediction market platform, following agreements by other major sports leagues with similar platforms. The partnership gives Polymarket access to MLB branding, official data via Sportradar, and promotional placements. Both MLB and Polymarket will implement a shared integrity framework, restricting prediction markets that could compromise game integrity, such as those on individual plays or umpire performance, and Polymarket will apply uniform integrity standards across its brokers. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to formalize confidential information-sharing and oversight related to the integrity of professional baseball and associated prediction markets. Regular meetings will monitor and address integrity threats. MLB plans to require similar integrity protections from any prediction market platform offering baseball contracts. These moves come amid rising concern about insider trading on prediction markets and proposed legislation to ban wagering on sensitive or pre-determined events. Platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi are stepping up internal enforcement and surveillance. The CFTC and MLB plan to work closely to safeguard markets from abuse and manipulation.
