Crypto's Fairshake repeats history with $30 million to oppose Sherrod Brown Senate bid
Crypto-backed super PAC Fairshake has committed $30 million to oppose former Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown’s bid to return to the Senate, its largest single-candidate spend this election cycle. The campaign echoes its $40 million effort against Brown two years ago, which helped elect pro-crypto Republican Bernie Moreno. Fairshake’s supporters include Coinbase, Ripple Labs and a16z, and they see Brown as an obstacle to crypto legislation. Recent polling puts Brown slightly ahead of incumbent Jon Husted. Fairshake says it has more than $90 million available for the general election. Its spending comes as the industry continues trying to elect lawmakers supportive of crypto policy, though its prior election efforts have not yet secured passage of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.
