Do Kwon’s South Korea Extradition Uncertain After Challenge from Top Prosecutor
The extradition of Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon to South Korea has been delayed due to a legal challenge by Montenegro's top prosecutor. The prosecutor's office stated that the decision to extradite Kwon was made through "abbreviated proceedings" that exceeded the court's powers. The decision should be made by the country's justice minister. Kwon and his colleague, Han Chang-joon, were arrested a year ago for using fake Costa Rican passports. Kwon's arrest followed a "red notice" from Interpol and the collapse of his company, Terraform Labs. Kwon faces charges in the U.S. and South Korea and has been fighting extradition since his arrest. Han was extradited to South Korea in February, and Kwon was expected to follow after March 23, but the timeline and destination are now uncertain.
