Ethereum’s faster-exit plan would leave new validators waiting to earn

Summary

EIP-8061 would remove Ethereum’s fixed exit cap, scaling exit capacity with active stake, while giving validator consolidations separate capacity. At 36 million ETH staked, the proposal’s example shows roughly four times current exit capacity. It would not change the 256 ETH-per-epoch activation cap, currently allowing up to 57,600 ETH of new stake per day, so new direct validators would still wait before earning rewards. The proposal was in Last Call through Nov. 1 and listed for the Glamsterdam upgrade, though no activation date was set. Faster network exits would not eliminate the subsequent withdrawal delay. Liquid staking can provide token exposure while deposits await activation, but inactive capital can dilute rewards per unit among pool holders; secondary-market sales also depend on liquidity and price.
